Vikings Season 5: Air Date, Cast and Latest Update and News

Since the inception in 2013, the Vikings has created a huge sensation among the fans. Created by Michael Hirst, this period drama is one of the most famous TV shows of the History channel and is one of the top charted TV shows of the last couple of years. Currently, the fourth season of the Vikings is being telecasted on the television. The difference between the previous three seasons and the current season, the latter is divided into two halves. All the previous three seasons air only 10 episodes but the fourth season are scheduled to come with 20 episodes.

So now the question is when the Vikings Season 5 will be started airing? As the season 4 has been extended, History will not be able to air the Vikings Season 5 premiere in the usual time, in February or March. According to the most of the reports, the Vikings Season 5 will start airing on television in the coming Fall, most probably in the months of September.

The fourth season of the Vikings started with a bang and the protagonist of the show, Ragnar Lothbrok’s death has been telecasted. So now the question arises, whether Ragnor will fake his death and will return just like the previous season, or not. The actor who portrays the character of Travis Fimmel denied his return and said in a recent interview, “Yeah, no, no. I'm not returning. It sort of doesn't make sense. My character is an atheist, so I'm not going to be coming up in any ghost, ghostly religious images or anything. I think you have to be very religious for people to have that belief in you."

Although the creator of the show, Michael Hirst did not agree with the actor and said Ragnor has "such a powerful presence in people's lives" and "This isn't the end of Ragnar Lothbrok”.  Although we are not sure about Ragnar's presence in the Vikings Season 5, the other main characters of the season 4 will surely make a return.

After Ragnar's death, his first wife Lagertha and their son Bjorn is supposed to raise to the power. Not only that, Ragnar’s second wife and their four sons Ivar the Boneless, Ubbe, Sigurd Snake in the Eye and Hvitserk will also get huge importance in this coming season.

Vikings Season 5: News and Update


Vikings Season 5 is going to some witness new characters. ‘The Tudor’-famed actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is going to play an important character in the coming season. Jonathan will portray the character of a bishop named as Heahmud. In fact, the character of Heahmund will be introduced in the last episode of the fourth season which is scheduled air on 1st February. Apart from the character of Heahmund, Aethelwulf’s son, Aethelred will also be introduced in the Vikings Season 5.

China extends Hollywood push with $1 billion Paramount Investment

Paramount Pictures received $1 billion cash investment from two Chinese film organizations. That two Chinese film companies are Shanghai Film Group (SGF) and Huahua Media and they are giving strength, support to the US studio.

According to the agreement, for the next three years, Huahua Media and Shanghai Film Group will finance a combined 25% of all Paramount’s movie. A known source who is familiar with the whole agreement said there is an option to extend this to the fourth year. New Chief Executive Officer Bob Bakish of Viacom focuses which is a mother firm did the whole deal and turnaround plan under his guidance.

It additionally complies with a spate of tie-ups between China as well as United State producers, with Chinese investors progressively eager to provide their financial strength to increase their stake in Hollywood.



U.S. workshops such as Detector Bros, Walt Disney Co, Dreamworks, Lionsgate as well as STX Entertainment have all made tie-ups with Chinese firms to money arrangements or aid improve their existence in China's fast-growing movie industry.

The arrangement marks the very first major action by Grey since Viacom's former Chief Executive Officer, Philippe Dauman, attempted to offer a 49 percent stake in the motion-picture studio to Dalian Wanda last year.

In a given year it is said for past few years Paramount production fell as low as eight movies under Dauman. On Grey’s words "This will give Paramount the wherewithal to build the slate and produce, as a major studio should, 15-17 movies a year".  Referring to the lower figure Grey said, "You really can't operate a major studio with that".

Shanghai Movie Team and Huahua Media stated in a joint declaration with Paramount that they were eager to grow their participation on movie jobs via the offer. Both companies decreased to comment even more when called by Reuters on Friday.


Shanghai Film Group was a venture capitalist in "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" and Huahua has partnered with Paramount on several films, including "Transformers: the Age of Extinction" and "Star Trek Beyond".
